MBSR · Spain + Latin America + Online
Spain's national mindfulness and compassion teacher association. Coordinates MBSR, MBCT, MSC (Mindful Self-Compassion), and CCT (Compassion Cultivation Training) teacher pathways across Spanish-speaking Europe and Latin America.
AEMind, the Asociación Española de Mindfulness y Compasión, is Spain's national mindfulness and compassion teacher association. The organization coordinates teacher pathways across MBSR, MBCT, MSC, and CCT in Spanish across Spain, the Spanish-speaking Latin American countries, and Spanish-speaking communities globally. Instruction is conducted primarily in Spanish, making AEMind the central credentialing body for Spanish-language mindfulness teaching. The organization is unusual among national MBSR associations in covering both mindfulness and compassion training pathways under a single umbrella. Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) was developed by Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff and trains practitioners in compassion-anchored practice for self and others. Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) was developed at Stanford's Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education and trains practitioners in compassion-centered meditation. AEMind coordinates Spanish-language teacher pathways for both alongside the standard MBSR and MBCT pathways. The MBSR teacher pathway aligns with the international MBSR standard and the wider European MBSR teacher network through EAMBA. Format is hybrid, combining online study in Spanish, residential teaching intensives in Spain or partner Latin American locations, supervised teaching practice with Spanish-speaking populations, required silent retreat attendance, and ongoing supervision. Cohorts include clinicians, educators, and existing mindfulness practitioners from across the Spanish-speaking world. Tuition runs roughly EUR 3,500 to 7,000 across the modular pathway, varying by chosen credential track and time investment. Graduates earn AEMind Listed Teacher status alongside specific credentials for the chosen modality. The credential is recognized within Spain, across Latin America, and within the wider European mindfulness teacher network. Many graduates deliver mindfulness, MSC, or CCT in clinical, educational, and community settings across the Spanish-speaking world. AEMind has been particularly active in extending Spanish-language mindfulness teaching to Latin America, where the field has grown substantially over the past decade. The organization's Latin American partnerships have made AEMind the natural credentialing body for Spanish-speaking teachers across both Iberian and Latin American settings.
Coursework varies by chosen modality. The MBSR pathway covers the standard eight-week program in depth in Spanish, the underlying clinical research evidence, the foundational meditation practices, and supervised teaching practice. The MSC pathway covers self-compassion practice, kind awareness, and the specific MSC curriculum developed by Germer and Neff. The CCT pathway covers compassion-cultivation meditation in the Stanford lineage. Topics across all pathways include the eight-week or eight-session program's structural components, core teaching methods, and integration with clinical or educational practice. Reading includes Spanish translations of foundational texts including Kabat-Zinn, Germer and Neff, and the Stanford CCT lineage materials.
Pathways run as hybrid programs with online study modules in Spanish, residential teaching intensives in Spain or partner Latin American locations, supervised teaching practice with Spanish-speaking populations, required silent retreat attendance, and ongoing supervision. Cohort sizes are kept manageable for direct mentor relationships. Faculty include Spanish-speaking senior mindfulness and compassion teachers with established practices across Spain and Latin America. Final certification depends on demonstrated teaching competence, mentor review, retreat attendance, and supervisor sign-off.
Graduates earn AEMind Listed Teacher status alongside specific credentials for the chosen modality. The credential is recognized within Spain, across Latin America, and within the wider European mindfulness teacher network through EAMBA. It does not authorize clinical therapy; clinicians work within their existing license. Many graduates deliver mindfulness or compassion programs in clinical, educational, and community settings across the Spanish-speaking world.
Applicants need a sustained personal mindfulness or compassion practice, prior retreat experience, and a clear professional or community context for teaching during the supervised practice component. The pathway is conducted in Spanish and assumes Spanish-language fluency.
AEMind sits within the European MBSR teacher network alongside the German Verband, the French ADM, the Italian AIM, and the Dutch VMBN. AEMind is unusual in covering both mindfulness and compassion training pathways under a single umbrella, where most other national associations focus primarily on MBSR. AEMind's coverage of Latin America also distinguishes it from the more strictly European national associations. For Spanish-speaking trainees, particularly those drawn to compassion-tradition pathways alongside standard MBSR, AEMind is the natural fit.
