What we are

Online Meditation Planet is an independent research site. We study meditation teacher training programs, traditions, and contemplative practices — and publish what we find.

We don't teach meditation. We don't sell certifications. We don't have affiliate deals with training programs or apps. We're here to help you navigate a space that's genuinely hard to navigate on your own.

What we've built

The MTT Database is the most comprehensive directory of meditation teacher training programs available — 300+ programs across 13 traditions and 25+ countries. Each program is researched independently. No program pays to be listed. Programs are ordered by depth of training, lineage, and track record.

We also publish research articles for practitioners: what differentiates Vipassana from MBSR, why Zen lineage matters, what IMTA accreditation actually means for a secular mindfulness program.

Our guides

The Meditation Traditions Field Guide ($39) covers 12 traditions in depth — origins, core practices, what each demands of practitioners, and how each maps to teacher training pathways.

The MTT Workbook ($29) is a self-assessment and planning guide for people seriously considering teacher training: readiness quiz, program evaluation checklist, financial reality calculator, and a 90-day prep plan.

Editorial standards

No program pays to be listed in our database. We note conflicts of interest when they exist. We date our research and mark when content was last reviewed. When we get something wrong, we correct it.
